Church School classes are meeting today during the Service, so that children may practice for the pageant during coffee hour.  Please have your child grab a quick snack and then meet back in the church at 11:25 for practice.  Please have your child arrive by 9:55 so that classes may begin promptly.  Practice for the Christmas Pageant will follow the Service.  Please speak to Mrs. Worgul if your child has not yet signed up for the Pageant.

Christmas Flower offering envelopes are in each of the pews for your convenience.  Please submit your offerings and dedications by tomorrow, December 15th.  Thank you!

The day time shawl group will meet on Monday, December 15 at 1 PM at the Twin Haven Social Center on Upper Pattagansett Road in EL.  Call Carolyn Miller, 739-2578 or email if you need directions or further information on the Christmas at Sea program.  The evening shawl group will not meet in January and February, but the day time group will meet on the third Mondays at Twin Haven.

We need Coffee Hour hosts for the months of December and January.  If you haven’t already done so, please sign up.  It is a really fun way to meet our fellow parishioners.  And it’s easy!  The church provides the coffee and tea.  You provide the snacks.  Ask someone to help you if you haven’t done it before.

Capital Campaign News:

As a result of the Feasibility Study by Kirby-Smith Associates, the Vestry has voted to step forward on God’s path toward our future with a Capital Campaign.  The campaign will take place over a three year period and will be in “full swing” by March.  As you recall, there were three phases to our Long Range Plan:

A.     The plan to extend the slype and offices and to accommodate a handicapped lift which will make our building fully handicapped accessible & in compliance with Diocesan mandates.

B.     The plan for necessary repairs and maintenance to our building.

C.     The plan to replace the $100,000 used in 2004 from our Endowment Fund for the new church roof.

St. John’s plan to go forward with a financially responsible campaign that will focus on phases B and C at this time.  We are excited to be taking this step toward our future and we invite you all to share your God given gifts and talents to assist in this plan.  A Steering Committee for the campaign has been organized and is responsible for the overall coordination of the campaign, timelines and Sub-committees.  This committee consists of Mother Rogers, Carol Adams, Joe Legg , Dick Miller and Brian Steady.  Other Sub- committees, advised by our consultant are:

·        the Communications Committee

·        the Kick-off Committee

·        the Youth Committee

·        the Prayer Committee

·        the Logistics Committee

·        the Commitment Committee.

A list of the committees and their responsibilities can be found on a large sign-up sheet in the slype and the back of the church.  Please feel free to ask any questions of anyone on the Steering Committee.  We encourage and need your participation.  We need your talents, your input and your ideas.  Please join us in this very important endeavor to support the ministries and future of our church.
